Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Better Resume ("we", "our", "us"), including our website and its features. By creating an account or using Better Resume, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to use Better Resume. You sign in with a Google account, and you are responsible for keeping that account secure and for everything that happens under your Better Resume account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. One person may not share an account with others.
Your content
You keep ownership of the resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, and other content you provide ("Your Content"). You give us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content, and to send it to our service providers (including AI providers), only as needed to operate the features you use. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have the right to use it.
AI-generated content
Features such as import, Rewrite with AI, Tailor, and cover letters use AI to draft or change content. This content is generated by AI and is a draft for you to review.
- Accuracy. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. You are responsible for reviewing it, confirming it is true, and deciding whether to use it.
- Honesty. Do not include experience, credentials, dates, or claims that are not yours. You are responsible for what you send to employers, and some employers or application systems restrict AI-assisted applications.
- Ownership. As between you and us, you own the output you generate from Your Content, to the extent the law allows. Similar output may be generated for other users, and we do not promise that output is unique.
- Providers. AI features are provided through third-party model providers, whose usage policies also apply to how you use the output.
Subscriptions and billing
Creating, importing, and editing a starting resume does not require a paid plan. Some features, such as tailoring, cover letters, AI rewriting, and PDF downloads, require a paid Pro subscription. Which features are included can change over time.
- Price and trial. The price and the length of any free trial are shown before you pay. You can start one free trial per account. Prices may not include applicable taxes, which are added where required.
- Automatic renewal. Pro renews automatically every month until you cancel. If you start with a free trial, we will charge your payment method when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. By starting a trial or subscription, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on that schedule.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe, and you agree to Stripe's terms for payment processing. You must provide accurate payment details and keep them up to date.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time, online, from the billing portal on your Profile page. You do not need to contact us. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and we will not charge you again.
- Refunds. You can get a full refund within 14 days of the first payment on your account, including the first payment after a free trial. We won't deduct anything for your use. Outside that window we don't refund renewals or part of a billing period, except where the law requires us to (for example, a statutory right to withdraw from a contract, or if the service is faulty). You can cancel at any time to stop future charges. To ask for a refund, contact us at the address below.
- Price changes. If we change the price, we will give you advance notice, and the new price applies from your next billing period. You can cancel before then.
- Billing questions. If you think you were charged in error, contact us and we will review it.
- Your legal rights. Nothing in these Terms limits cancellation, withdrawal, or refund rights that the law gives you as a consumer. For example, where the law gives you a right to cancel a digital service within a set period, we will honor it.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Better Resume lawfully and not to:
- Use it for anything illegal, or to create misleading, fraudulent, or harmful documents, including resumes that misstate your identity, experience, or qualifications.
- Upload or use content that infringes someone else's rights, or that contains other people's personal information without a right to use it.
- Send spam or use the service to harass others.
- Scrape, overload, or interfere with the service, or use automated means to access it in ways we have not allowed.
- Use the AI features to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, or that violates the usage policies of our AI providers.
- Bypass access limits, paywalls, or security measures, or try to access other users' data.
- Reverse engineer or copy the service, except as the law allows.
- Use the service in violation of applicable sanctions or export laws.
Our service and intellectual property
Better Resume, including its software, design, templates, and branding, belongs to us and our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service, and nothing else. Your Content remains yours, and the PDFs you download may be used freely to apply for jobs.
If you believe something on Better Resume infringes your copyright, email us at support@better-resume.com with a description of the work, where you found it, and your contact details, and we will review it promptly.
Third-party services
Better Resume relies on third parties such as Google, Stripe, Cloudflare, and AI providers. Your use of their services may also be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. The service may link to third-party websites that we do not control.
Termination
You can stop using Better Resume and delete your account at any time from your Profile page. We may suspend or end your access if we believe you violated these Terms or put the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.
Deleting your account immediately ends any Pro subscription, including any time left in the current billing period. To keep access until the period ends, cancel in the billing portal first. You can still ask for a refund you are entitled to after deleting your account. When your account ends, your data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
Better Resume is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI output will be accurate, or that any resume will pass applicant tracking systems, earn interviews, or lead to a job offer.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Better Resume is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some places do not allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.
Indemnification
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and hold harmless Better Resume and its owners, employees, and agents from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content or your violation of these Terms.
Changes to the service and these Terms
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service. We may also update these Terms. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. For material changes, we will give you reasonable advance notice, for example by email or a message in the app. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you can stop using the service and delete your account. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept them.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict of law rules. If a dispute arises, you agree to first try to resolve it informally with us by contacting us, then through mediation, before pursuing other remedies. Any remaining dispute will be decided by the courts in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection laws of the place where you live still apply to you, and nothing in these Terms takes away your right to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right, such as in the EU, the UK, or Quebec.
General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent, but we may transfer ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about Better Resume.
