Hotel Housekeeper Resume Example and Writing Guide

Published , 5 min read

A hotel housekeeper resume should show the rooms you serviced, the cleaning and linen work you performed, and how you reported completed work or problems. This example connects checkout cleaning and stayover service to room records, guest privacy, and supply handling without inventing room quotas or inspection scores.

Noelle Baptiste, her employers, school, and career history are fictional. The Tampa sample follows a room attendant who previously cleaned hotel public areas. Replace the details with your own work and dates. The examples explain resume wording, not cleaning procedures.

  1. Note 1:

The bullet names the room type and the cleaning tasks Noelle performs.

  2. Note 2:

Noelle records cleaning for inspection. She does not claim final authority to release a room for a new guest.

  3. Note 3:

Delivering linen supports the current role, but it does not establish experience operating laundry machines.

A hotel room attendant resume with earlier public-area cleaning and linen-delivery work.

Distinguish checkout cleaning from stayover service

Noelle's first bullet covers cleaning after checkout. It names the bed linen, bathroom, furniture, carpets, towels, and toiletries she handles. Her next bullet concerns an occupied room during a guest's stay. It adds assigned service tasks, guest requests, and do-not-disturb notices. That distinction explains her work more clearly than “maintained hotel cleanliness.”

  • Service occupied rooms according to assigned stayover tasks and guest requests, respect do-not-disturb notices, and report deferred service to the supervisor for follow-up.
Checkout and occupied-room bullets describe different service situations.

Use the service types you actually handled. Do not add turndown service, suite preparation, deep-cleaning projects, or carpet extraction because another hotel lists them. Noelle's resume supports routine guestroom cleaning and vacuuming. It does not show specialist floor treatment or upholstery cleaning.

A room count can add context when it reflects records you can explain. Identify whether it describes checkout rooms, stayovers, or a mixed assignment, and whether you worked alone or with another attendant. A hotel's total room count is not your personal workload. If you cannot verify a typical assignment, keep the tasks and checks and omit the number.

Explain the handoff between cleaning and room readiness

Noelle records completed cleaning on an assignment sheet for her supervisor's inspection. She also reports room-specific maintenance problems and unfinished work. Those details show what the next person needs to know without claiming that cleaning alone made every room ready for sale.

  1. Note 1:

The record and office handoff make found-property handling concrete without revealing a guest's identity or belongings.

Room records and lost-property handoffs show responsibilities beyond cleaning surfaces.

Describe your property's actual process. If you updated a housekeeping application, name the product only if you used it. Noelle uses an assignment sheet, so the sample does not claim OPERA, housekeeping software, or front desk system experience. Recording completed cleaning also does not demonstrate experience inspecting other attendants' rooms.

A maintenance report is useful evidence even when you did not fix the fault. Noelle identifies a leaking fixture or damaged furniture and supplies the room number. She does not claim plumbing, furniture repair, or authority to take rooms out of service. Similarly, a deferred stayover visit remains unfinished work to report rather than a completed service to count.

Assignment records, inspection handoffs, and specific fault reports can support a bullet without an improvement percentage. If you have a verified inspection result, explain whose work it measures and the period covered. Do not turn a property's guest rating into your own cleaning score. The bullet-point guide gives more ways to describe evidence without measured results.

Show care for guest property, linen, and equipment

Noelle's lost-property bullet names tagging and an office handoff. Signing keys out and back in is a separate responsibility in the same bullet. These actions give evidence of how she follows hotel controls. “Trustworthy” alone would leave the reader to supply that evidence.

Her cart bullet covers clean linen, used linen, damaged towels, and shortages. Keep those tasks separate from laundry production, purchasing, or managing the department's inventory budget. Her earlier Houseperson role involved moving linen and stocking shelves. It did not involve washing, drying, or pressing it.

The cleaning-product bullet describes employer training, approved products, labels, protective equipment, and a damaged-cord report. It does not establish a professional safety credential or equipment-repair skill. On your resume, describe training and equipment you actually used without copying operating instructions or confidential hotel procedures.

All eight skills in Noelle's list have evidence in her current bullets. Her summary dates guestroom work from 2023, while the earlier public-area role begins in 2020. Keep that distinction if you are moving into guestroom cleaning from another setting. The transferable-skills guide shows how to explain relevant earlier work while preserving its actual scope.

Match the opening without adding qualifications

Read the posting for its cleaning areas, service types, equipment, required training, and schedule. Education, previous hotel experience, language expectations, and physical duties can differ across openings. Describe your own qualifications and answer application questions according to their instructions.

Noelle lists a high school diploma and no professional certification. Hotel orientation is not the same as an earned credential. If you hold the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute's Certified Guestroom Attendant credential, use its exact name, issuer, and applicable date. Do not add it for taking an unrelated cleaning course or preparing for an exam.

For a first paid hotel role, use relevant employment, a supervised placement, volunteer work, or an explicitly labeled project. Keep each under its true label and explain the setting. Cleaning a private home does not automatically establish occupied-hotel-room procedures, master-key handling, or room-status reporting.

Noelle's recorded title remains Room Attendant. The headline adds the broader hotel housekeeper term without promoting her to supervisor. For reservations, guest billing, and arrival work, compare the hotel front desk example, which answers a different application need.
