Logistics Coordinator Resume Example and Writing Guide

Published , 6 min read

A logistics coordinator resume should name the freight you handled, the transport modes you used, and your work from booking through delivery. This example shows domestic less-than-truckload shipments, bills of lading, carrier follow-up, and delivery exceptions. It explains the evidence behind “coordinated shipments” without adding invented freight savings or on-time delivery rates.

Owen Campbell, his employers, his school, and this career history are fictional. The sample follows paid shipping-clerk work and a later logistics coordinator role in Louisville, Kentucky. Replace every sample detail with your own experience, tools, dates, and qualifications.

  1. Note 1:

Receiving hours, appointments, and liftgate needs explain what Owen checks before booking.

  2. Note 2:

A missed pickup leads to a new arrangement and a customer update. Tracking involves action beyond reading a status.

  3. Note 3:

Owen assembles evidence for claim review. He does not claim to approve or settle freight claims.

A complete logistics coordinator resume focused on domestic freight for a commercial fixtures supplier.

Define the freight and the part you handled

Owen arranges domestic shipments of boxed commercial fixtures. Less-than-truckload, or LTL, means the shipment uses part of a truck's capacity rather than a dedicated full truckload. His summary identifies that mode and the records he works with. It does not imply experience with every form of transportation.

Read the responsibilities behind the title. One logistics coordinator opening may center on domestic bookings and tracking. Another may require air or ocean freight, import documentation, tariff classification, or freight invoice auditing. Owen's example supports domestic LTL coordination. It does not demonstrate customs work, hazardous-goods shipping, fleet dispatch, or international freight.

His earlier Shipping Clerk title stays intact. Label checks and dispatch records show relevant preparation, but those duties do not establish that he booked carriers at that job. The warehouse associate example shows a different emphasis on receiving, picking, stock checks, and equipment. Keep physical handling and transport coordination distinct when explaining your own contribution.

Show what made a booking ready

“Scheduled trucks” leaves out the conditions that affected the booking. Owen checks when the warehouse can release the shipment and when the customer can receive it. He confirms appointments and whether unloading needs a liftgate, the platform on a truck used to lower freight. An added service can change the quote, so his bullet includes revised pricing and approval for exceptions to the routing guide.

  1. Note 1:

The warehouse supplies the physical shipment details. Owen checks and prepares the transport document.

Booking requirements and shipment documents supply different evidence of readiness.

A bill of lading records information about the shipment being handed to a carrier. Owen prepares it from released orders and warehouse-confirmed counts, weights, and dimensions. The consignee is the receiving party. Naming those inputs makes the document work clearer than “handled paperwork.”

Use the documents and checks you actually handled. Do not claim to determine freight classifications or prepare export declarations because you entered an address on a domestic shipment. If you worked from an approved routing guide, explain how you applied it rather than claiming that you negotiated carrier contracts.

The purchasing agent example follows supplier quotations and purchase orders. Owen's bookings concern transporting released goods. Both roles follow up on deliveries, but the documents, decisions, and exceptions are different.

Separate a forecast from a completed delivery

Owen tracks whether a pickup happened, follows transit updates, and arranges another collection when a carrier misses the first one. His update to customer service is a revised estimate. It is not a promise that the freight has arrived.

  • Track pickup confirmations and transit updates in carrier portals and an Excel shipment log. Investigate missed collections, arrange replacement pickups, and give customer service revised estimates with the carrier's latest status.
  • Request proof of delivery for completed shipments and follow up on shortage or damage reports. Collect delivery receipts, warehouse packing records, and customer photos for the supervisor's freight claim review.
  • Maintain an Excel exception log with shipment references, last carrier contact, next action, and follow-up time. Review open pickups and delivery appointments with the covering coordinator before handing over the queue. (note 1)
  1. Note 1:

Shipment references and a next action let the covering coordinator continue the follow-up.

Pickup follow-up, delivery records, and open exceptions show different shipment stages.

A delivery receipt does not by itself resolve a shortage or damage report. Owen collects receipts, packing records, and photos for his supervisor's review. That supports freight claim documentation. It does not establish that a carrier accepted liability or that a claim was paid.

For your own resume, choose an exception you can explain: a missed pickup, a receiving appointment that changed, a shortage, or a damage report. Describe what you checked, whom you contacted, and the next action. Without a measured result, the replacement booking, evidence package, or documented handoff can be the useful contribution.

If you include an on-time rate, identify the period, which shipments counted, and whether you measured pickup or delivery against the requested or confirmed date. Do not turn a carrier's forecast into an achieved result or attribute a whole team's performance to yourself. The bullet-point guide explains how to write from evidence when you lack reliable outcome figures.

Explain the freight charge you questioned

Owen compares carrier invoices with accepted quotes and shipment records. His liftgate example names a specific discrepancy: an invoice charge for a service that the booking records do not show as requested. He asks the carrier about it and sends the response to finance. The resume does not claim the charge was necessarily wrong or that he authorized payment.

  • Compare freight invoices with accepted quotes and shipment records, question liftgate charges when booking records show no liftgate request, and send carrier responses and supporting documents to finance for approval.
The invoice bullet identifies the charge, comparison records, and approval handoff.

If your role included invoice review, name the records and differences you investigated. Checking a quoted service against an invoice is more specific than “managed freight costs.” Only claim a recovered amount or saving when the final resolution supports it. A disputed charge alone does not establish a saving.

Match tools and qualifications to the opening

All eight skills in Owen's resume have experience behind them. Bookings and appointments appear in his first bullet, bills of lading in the second, and tracking in the third. Delivery evidence supports claim documentation, while the invoice comparison supports freight invoice review. Excel holds his shipment and exception logs.

Carrier portals and Excel are the tools this sample demonstrates. They do not establish experience in a named transportation management system, often shortened to TMS. If you used one, name it and explain your actual tasks. Do not add SAP, a warehouse system, or advanced spreadsheet analysis merely because the posting mentions it.

Owen completed high school in June 2019 and began paid shipping work in July. He holds no professional certification. Follow the opening's actual education, experience, credential, location, and shift requirements. A logistics course is not an earned professional certification, and this example is not evidence that every employer accepts the same qualifications.

For an opening focused on booking, his readiness checks and documents could lead. For one focused on delivery exceptions, tracking, evidence collection, and handoff could receive more space. An international role would need additional experience beyond this sample. The tailoring guide helps you select supported matches.

If you are moving from a stockroom or shipping-clerk job, describe the shipment records, carrier contact, or customer inquiries you actually handled under your real title. A clearly labeled course exercise can demonstrate a practice booking or document check. Keep it separate from paid employment, and do not present it as responsibility for live freight.
