How to list two jobs at the same time on a resume

Published , 5 min read

List jobs held at the same time as separate experience entries, each with its own employer, title, and accurate dates. Keep the overlap visible. Add a short label such as “Part-time” when it explains the arrangement, and keep each job's achievements beneath the employer where you did that work.

This guide covers concurrent jobs with different employers. For promotions or separate roles within one organization, use the same-company positions guide.

Make the overlap understandable

Use month-and-year dates consistently. If you still hold both jobs, both entries can end in “Present.” If one has ended, give it the actual end date even while the other continues. Do not shorten either period to make the jobs look consecutive.

Keep your actual title and add any arrangement label beside it or in a short line below it. “Part-time” describes hours, while “Temporary” describes a limited appointment. Choose the label that matches your records. Holding a second job does not make you a contractor or freelancer. If your second role really is client work, the freelance projects guide shows how to list it.

You usually do not need a weekly timetable on the resume. Include hours if the application asks for them or if they provide useful context. If hours varied, describe the actual pattern rather than presenting a temporary peak as your usual week. Your hours at a past job do not say anything about your availability for the next one.

Keep each job's evidence separate

Ellis Moreno, both employers, and the work history below are fictional. Ellis works two part-time jobs in Saskatoon, SK: Office Assistant at Willow Quay Repairs since January 2025, and Bookseller at Alder Finch Books since September 2023. Both jobs are current. Ellis is applying for an administrative assistant role.

The office entry provides the most direct evidence of appointment scheduling and document checks:

Willow Quay Repairs — Saskatoon, SK

Office Assistant (Part-time) | January 2025–Present

  • Schedule repair appointments in Outlook and record customer contact details for service staff.
  • Check completed service forms for missing equipment serial numbers and return incomplete forms to the assigned technician.
Illustrative office role, with its own employer and current dates.

The bookstore entry supports customer communication and record keeping without borrowing the office duties:

Alder Finch Books — Saskatoon, SK

Bookseller (Part-time) | September 2023–Present

  • Record special orders in the store's order log and contact customers when books arrive.
  • Compare delivered books with packing slips and report missing titles to the store manager.
Illustrative bookstore role, which continued after Ellis began the office job.

Each employer has its own entry because these are two separate jobs. Combining the jobs into one entry labeled “Office Assistant and Bookseller, September 2023–Present” would leave the office role's start date unclear. Moving the Outlook bullet into the bookstore entry would attribute work to the wrong employer.

Ellis can give the office role more space for this application and shorten the bookseller entry if needed. The resume bullet guide explains how to choose concrete evidence within a role. Neither holding two jobs nor adding a part-time label proves a claim such as “excellent multitasker.” Describe the actual work instead.

Choose an order without changing the dates

For a single Experience section, put current roles before completed roles, then list completed roles from latest to earliest end date. When both roles are current, starting with the job you began more recently is a simple default. If their start dates also match, put the role most relevant to the application first.

In Ellis's example, the office job comes first because it began later. It also happens to be the closer match. If the job you began earlier contains the strongest evidence, give it fuller bullets and highlight its relevant skills in your summary. You do not need to move it out of order or change its dates to draw attention to it.

You can leave an unrelated second job off your resume, but list it when an application form asks for every employer. If you include both jobs, they do not need equal numbers of bullets. Keep enough detail to identify each role and its dates clearly.

Keep changes in hours and years of experience accurate

If you kept the same position but changed from part-time to full-time, keep its full employment dates and explain the change separately. For example, “Part-time through June 2025, full-time from July 2025” describes a change in hours. Labeling the entire period part-time would be inaccurate. A change in title or responsibilities may need separate role entries.

Overlapping jobs can add different kinds of experience, but you should account for the overlap before stating a total. Two jobs held throughout the same calendar year do not add up to two years of experience. If an application asks for years of experience or the equivalent of full-time work, follow its definition and use accurate dates and hours. Do not invent a conversion rule.

Enter and check both current jobs in Better Resume

Use Add experience to create a separate entry for each employer. Enter each job's own Job title, Employer, Location, and Start date. Select Currently work here on both entries if both jobs are ongoing. Both jobs can appear with “Present” in the PDF.

Add a truthful arrangement label beside the title, as in the excerpts, and put that employer's work in Description (Optional). Arrange the entries in the intended order. Choose Preview, then check the complete page before using Download PDF in the preview view.

Before you send a resume with overlapping jobs

  • Each job has an employer, a clear title, and its own accurate dates
  • “Present” appears only on jobs you still hold
  • Part-time, temporary, or other labels match the actual arrangement
  • Each bullet describes work done for the employer above it
  • Changes in hours are distinguished from the full employment period
  • Any total experience claim accounts for overlap
  • The final file and required application fields agree with your records

Give each job its own clear entry.

Add your real employers, titles, dates, and work, then preview how the entries read together.
